Whole Home Renovation While on Vacation
The Situation:
A new client bought a house in Alexandria, Virginia on the morning of December 15th, handed us the keys that afternoon, and boarded a plane the next day to vacation out of the country until early January.
While they were on vacation, we were in charge of designing their entire home renovation including adding a third bathroom to the second floor, redesigning the master bath, remodeling the kitchen, choosing all new flooring, adding recessed lighting throughout, and repainting all the interior walls.
The Solution:
We sprang into action by assembling a team to design their renovations: our draftsman measured their home and created the drawings; our interior designer began choosing the finishes; our construction expert analyzed the plumbing and structural requirements; and our structural engineer specified the beam necessary to create a large window in a new home office on the first floor.
We held online meetings with our clients while they were away to keep them informed of the project's progress, review floor plans, and get their feedback regarding custom built-ins for their living area and new office. When they returned, we had a complete set of plans and a permit issued the next day.
