Before starting our company and after working in the design and construction industry dealing with many of our area’s contractors and builders, we began to see a pattern of frustration over the design process.

We listened to contractors and learned what they didn’t like about their experiences with some architects and designers. Their concerns included:

  • A lack of collaboration between the architect, homeowner, and the contractor during and after design
  • A need for more field experience and additional detail in construction drawings
  • Not having an understanding of construction costs and ability to design to budget
  • Lack of ownership of the selection process during design. Placing numerous “allowances” for materials before construction often causes cost overruns and construction delays
