This beautiful, historic row home in downtown DC was built in 1870. The owners have exceptional taste and asked for an award-winning, contemporary design to transform the rear elevation and improve interior flow.
Project Details
Excavating the basement two feet creates both front and rear access and allows for a two bedroom, modern apartment. The exterior renovation includes cantilevered two-foot bays of glass and steel, transoms, skylights and a roof deck, which completes the contemporary transformation.

A rendering of the expected finished product. This rendering ultimately inspired the owner's neighbor, who had also engaged us as their design team, to increase his scope of work and compliment his neighbor's new exterior.
Project Details
This historic DC row home's interior layout did not provide efficient flow from the front of the house to the rear kitchen. Our client's request was to improve the interior transition from front to rear and increase the size of the rear, second floor office.
Project Details
By slightly bumping out the side of the home and adding to the second floor, we're able to improve the transition and increase the space. The traditional style keeps with our client's taste and creates contrast with his neighbor's project.

Using computer-generated 3D modeling helps our clients visualize the completed project and ensures we achieve their vision.
