What We Do | Our Remodeling Design Process

First Consultation

Our initial consultation takes place in your home or office or you may visit our office. Its purpose is to ensure we fully understand all of your design needs. We are experts at asking the right questions to help you determine exactly what you want out of your finished project.

If you’d like us to provide initial architectural design concepts for your renovation, we’ll do a full measurement of your space and take pictures of your existing doors, hardware, and crown moulding to ensure your new space matches the rest of your home.

If we’re designing your new home, we’ll spend time discussing your vision, what you like, (and sometimes more importantly) what you don’t like. We’ll review any existing drawings or photographs and can even visit other homes that match the style that best suites your tastes.

Initial Design Meeting

During this second meeting we present to you multiple, preliminary design plans. In addition, you are shown 3D images of each concept to help you get a feel for how your new space will look. You will either choose your favorite concept or we will help you take aspects from each of them and combine them into one.

We’ll also provide you with a client login to our online project manager, the Xtranet, to share about and collaborate on your project using pictures, drawings, or additional 3D renderings.

Design Development

Using your feedback from the initial design concepts, we develop your design. Any modifications or combination of design elements from the initial design meeting are incorporated into the design during this phase of the process.

Selections

We know how important your time is, which is why we offer Interior Design concierge service. We will show you samples of cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, plumbing and lighting fixtures in your home so you can see what looks best in your existing space. We can also meet you at a local showroom to help you make your final selections if that is something you’d prefer.

Depending on project size, selection choices may be finalized before the Construction Documents are created (smaller projects) or while Construction Documents are being created (larger projects).

Construction Documents

Once you have chosen your contractor, we will provide Construction Documents along with copies of your specifications, photographs, 3D images of your new space, plumbing and lighting fixtures, appliances, cabinetry, countertops, flooring and tile choices. Our plans are complete, ready to be submitted for permit, and detailed for quality construction.

Bidding Process

We can work directly with a contractor of your choice or provide a contractor that best suite your project’s type and size. We can also provide a formal bid solicitation service and present proposals from several contractors to choose. Our strict contractor criteria ensure you are only receiving bids from high quality contractors. We provide them with copies of your plan and specifications, existing photographs, 3D images (if applicable), plumbing and lighting fixtures, appliances, cabinetry, countertops, flooring and tile choices.

Pre-Construction Meeting

This meeting occurs at your home approximately one to two weeks prior to your construction start date. We meet with you and your contractor to walk the space, review the plans, and go over construction management details. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure decisions have been finalized, everyone is on the same page, and that we have clear lines of communication as we move forward.
