The head of the Reston-based business was the guest speaker for July’s Sterling Women Luncheon and spoke openly about her less-than-typical upbringing.
Growing up in a single-parent household where for weeks she would spend time in other’s homes while her mother pursued a career as a truck driver, Fies was the victim of abuse on many levels until whe went to live with her grandparents at the age of 9, following her mother’s death in a trucking accident.
