Tips, inspiration and resources to love the space you're in

After a weekend hiatus of fireworks in the city and camping in the woods, the Synergy team has launched into the construction of a new transitional/contemporary kitchen in Leesburg. Check out the Facebook link below for the first pictures of this "racy" new space.

This month, we'll help bring out the designer in you with our latest article, "5 Tips for the Design Challenged,". Get your creative juices flowing with some hints that'll make you feel more comfortable embarking on any design project!

We've had a LOT of fun choosing products for the dining area and bar in the new restaurant (due to open this fall in Arlington...stay tuned for more info on "Heads or Tails"). Now that design is nearly complete, we'll be moving on to permits and power tools!

Lastly, check out one of our favorite products - 3Form Varia Ecoresin - hundreds of patterns, color options, and "interlayers" make it the most fun architectural resin panel around...simply gorgeous!

5 Tips for The Design Challenged

Some of us have a natural creative side and a flare for styles; others are not so lucky. For those who may be struggling, here are some simple design tips that will help you create a beautiful space with confidence.

Tip #1: Selecting your Furniture
Shopping for furniture does not have to be an overwhelming experience. Start off by doing your homework before heading to the stores. Look though design magazines for styles that you like and take them with you to show the salesperson. Establish a budget and stick to it. Make sure you are comfortable with the amount of money you plan to invest. Sticking to the budget will prevent you from experiencing ‘buyer's remorse' later. Once you have your style and budget set, make sure to shop several stores before making a purchase. This will allow you to feel more confident with your final choice.

Sleek "Racecar-Inspired" Kitchen Underway in Leesburg

Our eager construction crew has received the green-light to begin work on a sleek new kitchen remodel in Loudoun County. A week into the process, our clients' old kitchen has been stripped away and the walls are being prepped for new cabinetry.

The new kitchen will feature a clean cabinetry style in a unique smoky color, and a crisp light-colored countertop and backsplash. For seating, the clients wanted something a little different and asked for a custom banquette upholstered with bright red vinyl. The piece will be built into a previously underused corner, and will feature an eye-catching drum shade pendant overhead. The most highly-anticipated feature of the new space is a striking red range and coordinating hood right in the middle of the kitchen, which the homeowners likened to a shiny racecar. Check out our Facebook album for photos and updates in the coming weeks!

Restaurant Update & Product of the Month

For this newsletter's product of the month, we're featuring a product that we've been researching for our restaurant project. Varia Ecoresin from 3Form is a translucent architectural resin that can be used in flat panels or molded into shapes. Varia is available in a wide range of customizable colors. Even more fun are the numerous patterns, textures, and interlayers that are available - from flowers and twigs to yarn and flecks of sparkly metal - all encased within the material.

In the restaurant, we're exploring 3Form panels as an option for visually separating and blocking off different areas of the space, and as a decorative backlit element on the wall.
